ThinkCentre M92p SFF BIOS Splash Screen issue

2021-03-31, 11:38 AM

Hi,

i newly purchased a second hand refurbished M92p SFF. I am familiar with old models of ThinkPad BIOS so i am struggling to understand this new BIOS on ThinkCentre M92p.

i want to get traditional "ThinkCentre" logo on splash screen but it doesnt bring with my "legacy" boot settings in bios. is this normal or something wrong with Bios i dont know.

as i know if i set to "legacy" it suppose to show traditional "ThinkCentre" logo on splash but instead it shows just "lenovo" logo on centre if i start the pc after shut down (it doesnt show any splash screen if on restart, it shows black screen for few seconds and then boots to OS)

i upgraded bios to latest version with System Update app but still same.

you can see my current Bios screen in the attached picture. I appreciate if someone can help me.

It would appear that the Logo as provided is normal with even the latest version on the support site. As this is not something that affects performance, modding the official BIOS is not recommended due to the risk of bricking it.

Here is a similar discussion related to your topic: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkCentre-A-E-M-S-Series/how-i-change-splash-screen-to-my-company-logo-on-thinkcentre/td-p/4066612

Or you can wait for fellow users to provide feedback or suggestion especially for those who tried it.

Regards

@Jwes_Lenovo

thanks for the response.

Sorry for my confusion. I have ThinkPad X230 which has similar BIOS setting with M92p. on X230 if i set boot option to "legacy", it shows "ThinkPad" logo at splash screen, if it is set to Auto or Both or UEFI, it shows "lenovo" logo in red rectangle shape on middle.

Isnt M92p also suppose to show traditional "ThinkCentre" logo as here on splash screen if it is set to "legacy" boot? that is what annoying me.

currently, even i set bios to "legacy" it shows this kind of "lenovo" logo image. but even this splash screen doesnt show up everytime, it only shows up if i turn off the computer and start again. it doesnt show up if i restart.

Do you say this is normal? it feels annoying to me.  never faced this kind of odd situation on my any ThinkPads.

This is the configuration offered specifically to this BIOS version so if it does bother you that much then you can decide to follow the steps on the above link or wait for fellow users' suggestions or feedback.

yes i am bothered but it also seems traditional BIOS splash screen bothered lenovo. they are changing and ruining things on their own without any sense on "Think" machines since they got the rights of the brand. no wonder why many users intending to customize.
