Re: Thinkcentre Desktop MT-M 9196-A17

there is a clr bios jumper on the motherboard, activate it by moving the jumper over and then let it sit there for 5 mins, after that by moving the bios jumper to the original position.

Re: Thinkcentre Desktop MT-M 9196-A17

Lead_org,

Thanks!

Michael, to confirm Lead_org's suggestions... what updates were being installed?  Perhaps a BIOS update was being attempted and somehow failed, leaving the system in this state?

Read this tip which references the procedure for changing the jumper to clear CMOS / BIOS - referenced above.

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-45385

Download the Hardware maintenance manual for your particular system.  I've looked it up for you - it's here.

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/43c8797.pdf

See page 93 - it shows you where on your system board the jumper is - it is location 9 on the diagram on page 93.  Try the instructions in the tip.

You might be able to just change the jumper location without making the diskette - try that first.

Mark
