Greetings to all.
I have an older M55 3.2ghz (Prescott) Thinkcentre which recently died on me. Basically, the system was working fine until I rebooted it one day and it started complaining about some sort of BIOS setting corruption and that it was resetting everything to the defaults. After that happened, it refused to boot- Windows XP simply hard hangs either during boot or right before the login window comes up (and I'm stuck at a blank screen). Swapped the RAM, changed the BIOS battery, changed the HD, removed any PCI cards, etc- I've tried everything I as a "user" can do and the system simply will not boot (I can't even get into the Windows installer- it just hangs right after it boots from CD).
Now, I've confirmed the system is in warranty until 2011.
According to Lenovo:
"This product has a four year limited warranty which includes a ThinkPlus warranty upgrade. This product is entitled to parts and labor and includes on-site repair service. Service is available Monday-Friday, except holidays, with a next business day response objective."
Which is great- however, I am *not* the original owner of this machine, and the proof of purchase was lost a while ago (I might be able to get a copy, the original owner said they'd check and see if they had a copy).
So my question is- am I still eligible for warranty service? How does the warranty work- does it follow the owner, or the machine (and machine S/N)?

ScottishCaptain, welcome to the forum,
The warranty follows the s/n, you should have no worries about calling service.
Also to your advantage a Service Pack was purchased by the previous owner which they will have had to register, at this point a proof of purchase (if) would have been required.
Hope this helps
