Thinkcentre m55 8811 CPU upgrade with E7500

2011-10-22, 18:12 PM

Dear All,

I bought E7500 processor to upgrade my m55(i installed last bios)

I tought  it will be working because it is core2 duo and it has FSB :1066MHz.

When i installed, bios show the new processo:(2,93MHZ, 1066 e7500 but it didnt detect processor ID and showed error 167 (processor unknow).

Do You know it possible to ask Lenovo to add this processor to bios list? - i can't find email technical contact.

Best Regards,

Martin

E6700 is the highest CPU you can install in your machine, as indicated in the Service Parts listing for your computer HERE.

Lenovo does not add specific CPUs to the BIOs in response to customer requests. These are corporate machines and the compatible processors are all decided up front for the most part, and rarely updated.

M57 is the first machine in ThinkCentre to support the E8xxx and E7xxx CPU. The M55 doesn't support these CPU.

"Lead_org",

Please read what i wrote.

Lenovo wrote to me that they will update bios for m55 to support e7500.

I think it takes some weeks but Lenovo is serous company so i think they will keep proimises.

It is unlikely that Lenovo engineers would update the bios firmware to the M55 to allow support for these CPU.

But lets wait and see whether this is the case.
