Please refer to the section in the HMM (see item 2 in the pinned 'Read First' thread) on recovering from a failed BIOS update.   Use a USB drive if you don't have access to a CD player on this system.

Re: Unable to update BIOS on M92P Tiny

Hi BiggAl

apologies but im not following on where the HMM item 2 is actually located, but i saw something on the manual for it. is the txt in the code correct?

Also, i didnt fail a bios update(it never started), it just wont update. windows 10 works fine, just want to update to latest bios.

for the USB drive, i dont have CD drive. do i just extract the content of the ISO to the USB?

i tried making a bootable usb with rufus, but it wont work with the iso in the lenovo downloads for the m92p.

or do i just dump the zip file from the USB UEFI zip into the USB drive?

which file should i use?

Recovering from a POST/BIOS update failure
If the power to your computer is interrupted while the POST and BIOS is being updated, your computer
might not restart correctly. If this happens, perform the following procedure to recover from the POST and
BIOS update failure. This procedure is commonly called Boot-block Recovery.
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect
all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the computer cover” on page 33.
3. Locate the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper on the system board. See “Locating parts on the system
board” on page 13.
4. Remove any cables that impede access to the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper.
5. Move the jumper from the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2) to the maintenance position (pin 2 and
pin 3).
6. Reconnect any cables that were disconnected and reinstall the PCI card if removed.
7. Reinstall the computer cover and reconnect the power cords for the computer and monitor to electrical
outlets. See “Completing the parts replacement” on page 74.
8. Turn on the computer and then insert the POST and BIOS update (flash update) disc into the optical
drive. Wait a few minutes. Then, the recovery session begins. The recovery session will take two to
three minutes. During this time, a warning message will be displayed and no action is needed from you.
9. After the recovery session is completed, there will be no video, and your computer will automatically
turn off.
10. Repeat step 1 through step 4.
11. Move the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper back to the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2).
12. Reconnect any cables that were disconnected.
13. Reinstall the computer cover and reconnect any cables that were disconnected.
14. Turn on the computer to restart the operating system.

Item 2 referred to the HMM information in 'Read First' pinned thread at the top of this forum, but you already found the HMM.   Use the 'USB Drive UEFI BIOS Flash Package' file for a USB drive, and use the directions in the accompanying readme file.   Sorry, I don't have a M92p Tiny, or any Tiny, myself, and can only point you in right direction on this, I don't know any further specifics.   There are threads here of owners who have updated via USB drive, the process will be similar irrespective of the system model.

Re: Unable to update BIOS on M92P Tiny

thanks i'll try this using the failed bios method.

it's probably the only thing i havent tried using the jumpers on the bios pins.

hopefully i wont run into this error (very little information about this anywhere, some forums suggest editing the bios file or something to be able to establish a secure flash session...that's over my head)

18 - Error: Unable to start a Secure Flash session.

Child process failed. Return code: 24

Re: Unable to update BIOS on M92P Tiny

finally had time to try this, but im unable to get the bios in the maintance positions. switching the jumper to the maintance psotion cause the tiny pc to not post at all. no video display.

i tried it without this method to flash and i got the same error 18

18 - Error: Unable to start a Secure Flash session.

Child process failed. Return code: 24

i formatted a USB with rufus and put freedos to make it bootable then i copied the UEFI files into a folder on that USB called BIOS

i ran the autoexe. bat. i got to the bios screen and hit N and N again to not change serial etc. then it read the bios but unable to move beyond that as noted in the error above in red.

what else can i do? should i just give up on updating this bios?
