Accidently deleted q drive and no system restore points E420

2012-08-24, 3:32 AM

Hi, I accidently deleted my Q drive when attempting to do a factory setting restore. I thought what I did was allowing me to restore my system to factory settings. However as it turned out, that wasn't the case. When I finally found the way to restore to factory settings, I realized what I deleted was crucial for my system to restore to factory settings.

My warranty ran out less than a month ago, what should I do?

My parents have product keys for windows 7 professional (They pay yearly for all these microsoft related things) if that helps.

I need to restore my system, any ideas?

Hi billyzhao,

Don't worry!  You can restore your factory image.  You will need to order Recovery discs from Lenovo Customer Support.  The US phone number is 800-426-7378.  They are open 24 hours per day.  (I assume you are in San Rafael, CA?)

You need to have your Machine type, Model and Serial number handy to speed things up.  Don't hold me to this, but they may send them out at no charge since you are just out of warranty.  There is a nominal charge otherwise.

Hi, I called them up, unfortunately, because my warranty is over, I will have to pay 45 dollars for the new recovery disk.

Oh well, and yes, I live in San Rafael, CA :)

I guess that's a small price to pay to recover your system.  Let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.
