E15 gen 2 AMD display driver crashing

Hi,
while on youtube, once every day or 2 my display driver crashes. It is latest version, but also version before was having same issue. I have started to experience this after freshly installing win 10 and uprading to win 11.

Event Viewer is showing:

Miniport driver failed to add device with status {Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.

Re:E15 gen 2 AMD display driver crashing

Hello cro_Edi_1,

Could you please provide us with the machine type and model of your laptop? This information will help us better understand its specifications, and allow us to assist you more effectively. Additionally, could you also let us know the current BIOS version? Thank you!

The steps to find the BIOS version can vary depending on the manufacturer and model of your laptop. Here are some general steps that should work for most Windows laptops:

Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) and press Enter.
In the System Information window that appears, look for the BIOS Version/Date entry in the right-hand pane. The version number should be listed here.

Re:E15 gen 2 AMD display driver crashing

Hello cro_Edi_1,

It's great to hear that you've updated your BIOS to the latest version. Disabling hardware acceleration in your internet browser is a good first step to try to isolate the issue. If the issue persists, you can try several other troubleshooting steps, such as uninstalling and reinstalling the AMD display driver, resetting your graphics card settings, running a system file checker scan, and checking for any overheating issues.

Let us know how it goes.

Re:E15 gen 2 AMD display driver crashing

So, with hardware acceleration disabled and I also have reverted AMD graphics to 22.12.1 version. While sleeping it crashed within 2 hours of playing youtube.

sfc /scannow command line didn't find anything. Also there is no overheating as I have limited max temp to 73C using Universal x86 Tuning Utility 1.0.3 version.

After I wake up I have put back AMD graphics to latest 31.0.14037.1007v and also installed a bunch of newer and better drivers using Snappy driver installer software. System feels more responsive and in last 4 hours it didn't crash, but that doesn't mean anything since it happend to not crash in a week and then suddenly started every other day.

Only thing that comes to my mind is to disable Display color enhancment and custom colors in AMD andrenalin software if it crashes again as that's the only thing interacting with display. (I am not an expert so could be wrong here).

Btw thank you for assistance so far!

Re:E15 gen 2 AMD display driver crashing

Hello cro_Edi_1,

Disabling the Display Color Enhancement and Custom Colors settings in the AMD Adrenalin software might be worth trying, although it is difficult to determine if this will resolve the issue. It is also possible that the issue is caused by a conflict with another software on your system. You can attempt to disable any unnecessary startup programs and services to see if this makes a difference. Alternatively, creating another Windows profile and logging in to that profile could help isolate the issue and determine if it is related to a specific user.

Re:E15 gen 2 AMD display driver crashing

So with those 2 settings disabled it crashed while running screen saver. Updated to newer 23.3.2v adrenalin and installed new display driver. Now it crashed but this time was different. First it showed up driver timeout, then that popup disappeard and display crash popup came. I am tired of AMD. I have reported this display issue multiple times to them and no response or fix for it, so I have downloaded AMD video driver from lenovo website for my laptop model. But thing with it,

1) it is massively outdated. On lenovo website it says it's from april 2022, but when I open Device Manager, it says it's from 27.12.2021.

And 2) I don't have access to adrenalin software anymore since it requires to be exact version as video driver installed, but on lenovo website there is no option to download it.

I don't have any new program running in background that didn't have in past when didn't have any crashing issue.

Crash happens very often right now and completely random with no info in Event Viewer, is it possible that some GPU cache is corrupted or just instabilities with win 11?

Re:E15 gen 2 AMD display driver crashing

Hello cro_Edi_1,

I'm sorry to hear that you're still experiencing difficulties. Have you used the Adrenalin software before on your E15 Gen 2 AMD? Are you encountering issues even with the Lenovo driver installed without the software?

It's possible that there's a conflict between the Lenovo AMD driver and the Adrenalin software. In this case, it might be helpful to reach out to AMD for assistance, such as by posting on their forums or contacting customer service. They may be able to suggest a compatible driver that will work with your E15.

Additionally, other community members who have a similar setup or more experience may be able to provide their insights or solutions to the issue.

Thank you for your patience and I hope that this issue can be resolved soon.

Hassen_Lenovo
