E560 arrow keys enter numbers when scrolling in Excel

2016-03-09, 3:32 AM

How do I stop the arrow keys below the Shift key (not the ones on the numeric keypad) from entering numbers when I hold them down to scroll in Excel? For example, if I press the "up" arrow and hold it down to scroll, when I release the "up" arrow key, an 8 appears in the cell. Same situation when I press the "right arrow", a 6 appears in the cell when I release the arrow key. Likewise, "left" arrow leaves a 4 and "down" arrow leaves a 2. Any ideas are appreciated!

I have an E560 showing the same behavior running Windows 7.  In various text entry fields and at random times if I hold down the arrow keys under the right Shift key to scroll, I will get either a 4, 6. or 8 dpending on which key I am holding.  Of course those correspond to the arrow keys on the 10 Key pad that have the arrows on them.  Obviously there is a glitch in the keyboard driver.  Anything on this Lenovo?

Is there any update on this problem. I'm having the same behaviour on my E560 as well.

I tried both on Windows7 and Ubuntu (booted from USB). Whenever the laptop is on AC power, the keyboard acts strange.

Hi, I also had a problem with integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 and a test in Lenovo solution center showed me failed Mathematical Operations Test. I downloaded a new drivers, straight from the site Intel:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/88355/Intel-HD-Graphics-520-for-6th-Generation-Intel-Core-Processors

I don't remeber which exactly (beta or regular). My problem with graphics test is gone. And the problem with keybord is also away...

(Note: But, I've instaled also another updates of Windows10 automaticaly.)

Edge e560 keyboard hangs when charger is connected ubuntu 16.04 / kernel 4.4

2016-03-10, 1:24 AM

same issue (description) as here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comments/42chvz/keyboard_keys_stucksticky_while_charging_thinkpad/

I'm on ubuntu 16.04 xenial
kernel 4.4

when keeping a button pressed after a second the button locks, and repeats indefinitely until i press annother key
The issue doesn't appear with preinstalled windows or on linux when the charger is not connected.

Re: E460 Keys repeating when pressed for 3 seconds

Problem: (while using GNU/Linux)
Pressing any key on the keyboard for more than 1.8 seconds causes the pressed character to repeat even after you release the key. It will continue to repeat as long as you don’t touch the keyboard. To make the character stop repeating you simply press and release any key on the keyboard for less than 1.8 seconds.

Note:
Problem completely goes away by simply unplugging the power cord. To make the problem return you just plug the power cord back in. No need to relog or reboot.

But when I plug the power cord back in the touchpad becomes erratic. The mouse pointer sometimes stops moving and you have to keep making an effort to move the mouse pointer. Have to reboot with power cord plugged in to fix the touchpad issue.

Testing:
Linux command used to monitor input - XEV
XEV shows that while the “key repeat” setting is turned on, even after the key is released, you will still see the key repeatedly pressed and released through XEV. This is only if you hold the key for the approximate 1.8 seconds or longer. The key releases normally if you hold it for less then 1.8 seconds, as shown also in XEV.

While the “key repeat” setting is turned off and you press any key for 1.8 seconds or more, XEV shows only a single press and never shows a release when you do release the key. If you unplug the power cord and watch XEV, it always shows the key being released when you stop holding down the key, no matter how long you hold the key down.

Additional Notes:
None of the available settings, such as “Assistive Technologies”, “Key Repeat”, or “Repeat Delay and Speed” make any difference on the problem.
The problem also carries over into Virtual Guests.
The problem occurs on BIOS/UEFI versions 1.10 AND the current 1.13.

CPU: i5-6200U

Firmware version: R00ET38W (1.13 )

Windows 10, Fedora 23 Dual boot with secure boot enabled.
