Re: E460 Keys repeating when pressed for 3 seconds

2016-04-21, 10:39 AM

To put everything together => This is a hardware issue not a software issue.

How do you explain it works on a virtual machine based on ubuntu 14 ? Hardware is not OS dependant ... drivers are.

At the end, Lenovo needs to fix it .. hardware or not ! ;-)

Sorry mate but this can not be HW issue at all. Acording to behaviour, this is driver issue or firmware problem.... this should be possible to fix via bios update etc...

I have the same issue, it's really annoying especially while developing. I hope we get a fix soon.

Re: E460 Keys repeating when pressed for 3 seconds

2016-04-24, 23:10 PM

My company decided to return all E560's recently purchased for our engineers due to this keyboard issue.

What I have learned from E560, being my first Lenovo experience, is that Samsung makes really decent laptops. I used 3 different Samsung laptops over the past 6 years, and NEVER had to visit any Samsung website. Actually all I did with the Samsung laptops was to sit there and do my job, but I just didn't realize how valuable that had been. With this brand new Lenovo E560 I always need to do something to make sure my system is stable, like control panel, device manager, task manager and all that.. I've been checking this forum thread and the software download page in a daily basis! Why should I be so stressed out to use a computer?

I asked my IT guy if I can get back my Samsung Series 9 I returned to get my new E560.

Samsung Series 9, back from 2013, with i5 4th gen/4GB RAM/256GB SSD/Intel HD 4000 felt so much better than E560, purchased 2016, with i7 6th gen/8GB RAM/256GB SSD+1TB HDD/AMD GPU.

With a good system, you really shouldn't have to open your control panel or task manager every day. The system should just perform and you shoudn't have to be curious what's wrong with your configurations or settings. We all have enough problems doing our REAL jobs, don't we?

All in all, regardless of the keyboard issue, my short E560 experience was a nightmare - slow bootup, freezing, some Lenovo software eating up my system resource (not even sure what it does), poor build quality, etc.

I'm not sure how the Lenovo's so-called 'premium' ThinkPad X, T or W series perform because I've never used it. What I AM sure is that the E Series is definitely ruining the ThinkPad's reputation, and that I personally will never use ANY ThinkPad series again.
