Hmm.  Mixed feedback.  . Maybe 7 out of 10 (?)  of you are saying this solved the problem or significantly improved the fan operation.   I'll look into the reports of the fan staying on and never shutting down - will retest here.

Dear Mark,

thank you for taking the fan's behavior again to the developer's attention - and thank you for giving us feedback at all. The latest BIOS update is for sure a big improvement, the pulsing is gone! But it would be really appreciated when the fan would shut down after the CPU's temperatures is lower again.

Regards from Germany.

Still don't think it's fixed. The fan is still going up and down when you run a program/game that requires a bit of stress.

For example: I play a lot of Football Manager, and it's quite clear when the fan speeds up as soon as the computer has to do some work. It's not nearly as loud as before and "I can live with it". But a computer this expensive I shouldn't having to settle with "I can live with it".

I'm gonna give it 4/10 as it's not as loud as before, but the fan is still annouying and it's not good enough that we can't control it. When you release a product that has a fault and you obviously can't fix yourselves, at least let us use a third party program designed by someone who knows what they are doing.

Edit: Tested it a bit more. Pulsating is not gone. I have heard it go up and down over the past 20 minutes. Not as loud. But it's there.

I'm using my laptop to stream movies to my smart TV. Even when the laptop is idle and the TV streams movies the fan keeps speeding up and then down after a while. This happens contiously. My girlfriend who sat 4 meters from the laptop even kept asking "what is that noise?"

It has gotten to the point where I move the laptop into another room when we watch movies in the livingroom. Scratch my previous rating of 4/10 for the update. It's more like 2/10. This is embarrassing stuff Lenovo.

We must admit - problem is not solved.
Yes, there is positive point - short-term pulsing is gone.
But there are still not fixed problems:
1. Since fan started, it never stops. Never.

2. Fan behavoir is too loud on low temperatures.

I too, after updating my BIOS to 2.52 for my E430,  have a fan that runs all the time.  It runs at slow speed, but never turns off.  It used to turn off.  Please help.  Thank you

Re: E530 - pulsing/whiny fan @ no/low load

Not been here for a month, simply because my pulsing disappeared after I taped a few air inletholes underneath laptop.

I have now read about the result of a bios that for the first time addresses the pulsing problem. Im glad that Lenovo listens to us customers on this forum. I will wait to update however since I hear that the fan never decelerates, as mine do, when getting feedback of lower temperature and/or CPU GPU load. As I supposed to be.

Despite that my computer hasn't pulsed in eight weeks now and smoothly goes up and down in speedrate (that is im quite happy with it) im very curios to see of a bios alone (without altering some hardware as I did) could give this satisfying behavior. As I speculated in two month ago I believe that if the hardware termal solution contribution: chassi (with air inlet) fan, heatsink CPU and GPU positions and effect etc, where without some inbuilt problem it should be very easy to write a bios that works. But if hardware factors isn't optimally combined it may be impossible to program oneself out of problems.

Could you please explain (a picture?) which are the holes that you covered with tape?
