Hey, I'm looking to get a E431, does anyone around here know if they fixed this issue for that model?

Yes, I agree it has been a while since anyone from Lenovo has responded.  A few months ago Mark_Lenovo said he would try 2.52 Bios on other laptops to see if he can come up with a solution.

Mark_Lenovo or any other Lenovo staff, please have to courtesy to provide a status.

Thank you

Oh my god this pulsing is so annoying... i just tried this 99% CPU trick, but it stil pulses but only lower volume. For me from this day on Thinkpad is no longer reliable brand and i will spread it as much as i can.

The 99% is not for solving the pulsing (that's what the latest bios does). It's for keeping the fan from speeding up once in a while (ie keeping it silent, although not completely silent).

wow thanks... that is true. This speeding up is gone with 99% trick, but i have also latest bios and i still hear pulsing. It is not so bad as with previous bios version, but not solved at all.

It's a shame. But we have to beg Lenovo.

Not to return our notebooks due to technical reasons and get our money back.

No.

Just to make one little program called BIOS.

Beg? I wrote up a slew of insults and was going to post them, in order to get a little satisfaction and get banned. Then I realized that companies and employees with such a behavior don't deserve to get me swearing.
They given me a defective laptop for my good money. Ok, that is fine, I got cheated other times, life will keep going on and I will keep staying away from Lenovo and other people/companies that show disdain for fairness toward human beings and sentient form of life. Mr. Linus Torwalds would have expressed himself it in a way a little bit more direct, though    ;)     love and peace, guys   :)

I'm really worried about this situation with silence from Lenovo representatves.

Today I sent  a couple of personal messages (including Mark_Lenovo) with text:

Please, answer something in this thread - http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge-S-series/E530-pulsing-whiny-fan-no-low-load/td-p/797577

800+ messages, hot topic, but none of the Lenovo representatives there

Let's see, who of them have decency to answer to us.

ivand,

800 messages, but many of these were about the original issue which was the pulsing fan, which had been addressed by  BIOS update version 2.52.

Here is the link to BIOS 2.52

Here were the updates from the BIOS change log:

Version 2.52

  • (Fix) Fixed an issue thet is related to Fan speed unstable.
  • (Fix) Fixed an issue that is related to leakage power when only setting WOL in windows.

I understand that after the update the complaint changed to that the fan is running all the time for some (perhaps many) customers.

I need to follow up with our engineering team on this subsequnet concern, but last I checked we had not replicated these new symptoms, so we may need a sample customer system.

Hopefully someone in US?  If only customers in Europe, then we can work with you there, but still need a volunteer..

Mark
