ExpressCache readings with "eccmd -info"

2014-02-02, 23:48 PM

I am just curious, can somebody explain the eccmd readings in detail? The support guy from Condusiv couldn't give me any info because it's OEM. He advised me to ask Lenovo about the maintenance manual of ExpressCache, but it wouldn't be very exhaustive anyways.

The first section is pretty straight forward, except the "reserved" part. What is it reserved for?

The rest is rather cryptic to me:

. What is a tiered cache?

. What do these percentages mean? Why don't they add up to 100%?

. Why do I have Gigabytes of data on that partition and the read and write sizes are not nearly in that order of magnitude?

. What is the difference between Read/Write Count and Cache Read/Write Count (similar with Size)?

This software seems to work great but I really would like to know more about it! :smileytongue:

.

..

I noticed that you are running an older version of ExpressCache (1.0.86.0). Version 1.3.110 is now available at:

I also would like to know more about the software, maybe someotherguy will chime in.

Thanks for the heads-up! I downloaded mine from the E330 page. Will an update ruine the past "training" on the cache partition?

I don't know about that!

I was having issues with 1.0.86.0 after upgrading to Windows 8.1 so I removed it.

Version 1.3.110 was a new install and is working great with Win 8.1.

For stability purposes I abandoned rapid start (OSD would hang) and increase cache partition. So I took the chance to upgrade EC software to 1..3.110. Wouldn't do any harm. Thanks again for the hint!

However, eccmd AND the ec service neet to call home now before returning the performance readings. Wt...?
