Re:Force Update of BIOS from 1.13 to 1.40

Hi

Recently ThinkPad products BIOS will support to be updated through windows update.  You will see a named "lenovo Ltd. -firmware " program is displayed in windows update list,  once this firmware is installed, system will automatically get latest version BIOS package from Microsoft and install it.

If you don't like it, you can uninstall “lenovo Ltd. –firmware” from device manager(device manager->firmware->ThinkPad E480/E580 system firmware V1.40),then you can rollback your BIOS to older version. But windows update will get "lenovo Ltd. -firmware " in next windows update.

To disable BIOS update through windows update, you can go to BIOS setup(Press F1 key when restart or power on),disable the Windows UEFI Firmware Update(ThinkPad setup->Security->UEFI BIOS update option->Windows UEFI Firmware Update, change it to disable).

Thanks!

One more comments, disabling “Windows UEFI Firmware Update” will also stop other device firmware updating through windows update. So we suggest you keep it enable to ensure your system is up to date for all of update and fix. Thanks!
