How can I disable the trackpad? E540

2014-03-09, 16:13 PM

Hi, I have an E540 and today I spilled some liquid on the trackpad and now my cursor is moving around and clicking randomly. I use a mouse so I don't need the trackpad.

I've read online how to disable the trackpad but I don't have any of those options. Like disabling it in BIOS or in the driver(Control Panel -> Mouse) - I just have uninstall. If I uninstall windows 8.1 will just automatically reinstall it after reboot.

How can I disable the trackpad?

Thanks!

Hi,

You can find the MTM number of the device in BIOS or within Lenovo Solution Center.

Please find the related drivers below.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

Mithun.

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To disable trackpoint, Go to "Control Panel" --> "Mouse" --> tab "UltraNav", and disable the trackpoint.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

Mithun.

mithunr, I am afraid I do not have a "UltraNav" tab in Control Panel -> Mouse

When I open Control Panel -> Mouse I get an error message "Unable to connect to Synaptics Pointing Device"

I tried reinstalling the device but the driver software said it could not detect the hardware.

Any ideas? Thanks

mithunr, I don't have any number on my laptop, I looked at the bottom of it. As it says it should here http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/locateProductNumber.page

As mentioned in the title, it's an E540, you need more information than this?
