Lenovo Vantage version confusion and toolbar missing

2019-10-07, 7:39 AM

On a new E490, as shipped by Lenovo, the version of Vantage looks like this:

And there is the option for the Vantage toolbar:

However, on a rebuilt older E480 where Vantage has been installed from the Store, you get a very different version and the toolbar appears to have disappeared:

So questions:

  1. Has the Lenovo Vantage toolbar been retired in this latest version or is there something else we need to install on a clean build?
  2. Why isn't Vantage updating itself to this newer version on the factory supplied install? It seem stuck with v4.27.32.0
  3. How do we rollout a consistent version across all laptops, i.e. upgrade older versions to new versions?
  4. Where do you find the version number in the new interface?

Toolbar has not been retired.  Vantage is updated from the Microsoft Store and we don't control when or if it gets updated on individual PCs.  In new Vantage, you can find the version number by clicking on the menu -> Support, then scroll down to Quicklinks and click on "About Lenovo Vantage".  To turn toolbar on and off in new Vantage, go to menu -> My Device Settings, then choose Power, Other Settings, and you should see the Lenovo Vantage Toolbar on/off switch at the bottom.

If you prefer the interface of the older Vantage you can deploy our enterprise package which will not be updated from the store, see here:

Hmm, wonder why the option to display the toolbar is not present then in rebuilds. Have another one to do over the next week so will report back.

This isn't an update as search - it's a new install from the Store on new builds. Will that not get the latest version.

Thanks for heads up on enterprise version - we are looking at a more standard image build of laptops so that will help.

Later... another Thinkpad clean Windows 10 rebuild. Vantage v10.1909.24.0 installed from Store - option to add toolbar missing again.

Hmm...

A bit later... just run updates inside Vantage and the NVIDIA driver needed updating. After a reboot, the option to display the Vantage toolbar is back. So needs a couple of reboots to get it working maybe?

Another Lenovo Staff member says Toolbar is not supported for Commercial Vantage anymore.
