Need Lenovo link for downloading Windows 7 ISO

2015-08-13, 19:12 PM

Hello All

This is my first post and I welcome any help that can be given.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge Laptop running a preloaded version of Windows 7 Professional and need to format the hard drive prior to upgrading to Windows 10 - the drive is running VERY slow and may contain viruses, hence the need to format.

My problem is that I require the Win7Pro ISO to do this.

I have contacted Microsoft to get this and they have told that me that as the OS was preloaded I need to contact the laptop maker to obtain the ISO.

I have searched the discussions and knowledge base to find any info, but all I can find points to a third party download that has now been blocked by Microsoft.

I would be eternaly grateful if somebody could point me towards a location or link to the ISO as I have been going round in circles for days.

Kind regards

Good day and welcome to the community.

In my experience, there has never been a link to a downloadable Windows ISO of any version from Lenovo or from IBM before that. Recovery DVDs have been routinely available by contacting Service, but they are not "clean" install disks. They will reimage, a system to the factory-delivered state.

Is that what you would like to accomplish?

Regards.

Hi Sarbin

Thank you for your speedy response to my cry for help, and yes I am happy to return the laptop to factory settings.

All of my data has been backed up as I am intending to upgarde it to Win10 anyway - so a good cleansing is probably the best thing for the laptop.

Are you able to point me in the direction of the relevant section of the Lenovo website that deals with supplying the recovery DVDs?

Kinds regards

It would best to contact Support (info below) to discuss. In my experience, they'll verify your model and serial number to confirm the factory-licensed operating system.

Hope this helps a bit.

Regards.

Do you have an email address to the Windows 7 licensing department at Lenovo?

Unfortunately I’m in the same dilemma: My Lenovo V570 hard drive died. More specifically, the logic card on the drive burned out and took out sections of the platters.

When bringing the drive to a data recovery agency; they apologized and told me there is nothing more I can do to fix the original drive or access the old data.

I purchased and installed a blank solid state laptop drive this week.

Now, I need to install Windows 7 on my Lenovo v570. -- Keep in mind I don’t have access to a recovery partition from the old drive nor do I have a “Lenovo Windows 7” installation disc.

When I visited the Microsoft licensing website and typed in the Windows 7 Code from the bottom sticker of the Lenovo, Microsoft informed me they don’t handle third party licenses and that I would need to contact Lenovo for assistance.

How is this done?

By the way, don’t you just love getting pushed from one department to the next?

Thank you for your help in advance.
