Power Manager for Windows 8.1

2014-11-27, 0:55 AM

Where is Power Manager for Windows 8.1?  (For ThinkPad Edge series laptops)

There is a "Lenovo Power Management Driver", but no application/software to go along with it.

Does anyone know?

Good day and welcome to the community.

Please see: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-8-and-8-1/ThinkPad-software-for-Windows-8/td-p/899865

There is no official support for ThinkVantage Power Manager beyond Windows 7.

There are reports that some have installed it, but there are warnings that it may(?) clash with Windows 8/8.1 native power management functions and potentially cause system instability.

Regards.

Since Power Manager is no longer available for Win 8.x, how does one set battery charging to 80% when plugged in all day?

@Juggler...

You might try the procedure in this KB article:
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-8-and-8-1-Knowledge-Base/Changing-Charge-Threshold-on-ThinkPads-under-Windows-8-without/ta-p/920657

I haven't tried it, personally, though.

Regards.

You can install the Power manager in Windows 7 Compat. Mode. It works fine.

Thanks. Is this verified by others to not cause instability or compatibility issues on the TPY?
