Should I buy an Edge 11?

2010-11-11, 16:28 PM

Hi,

I'm not sure if it's fine to post a question like this in this forum...

I'm looking for something between a netbook and a laptop, and the Edge 11 is very tempting. The AMD version is also quite cheap.

I've been reading too many posts of people complaining about different problems, especially hardware issues (touchpad...).

I would like to know if these problems are limited to a "reasonable" amount of users.

I couldn't find a positive post about this model, and I would like to decide soon.

I'd appreciate to get some feedback, both positive or negative.

Thanks in advance,

Walter

I think it's normal you find a lot of people complaining about different problems. People who don't have problems have no reason to tell this to the world. I think it's there's still a chance that, when you buy an Edge 11, you will get a properly build and functioning unit.

I've had my Edge 11,6 for a couple of days now, and there are only a couple of things I'm a little disappointet about, it is the Touchpad which I have a little bit of problems with the scroll functions, the other thing is the battery life, I can't squeeze much more than a little over 4 hours out of it with very conservative power settings and at last it's pretty irritating that there are no LED's for the harddrive and wifi/wwan. Other than these things its a great little machine with plenty of power and I find the keyboard good enough, even compared with my T400, T410 and W510, and its cool that I can use the same powersupply on almost all the machines.

Kind Regards
Jesper

Hi and thanks for replying.

Jesper, do you have the AMD or Intel version?

Does it affect the battery time somehow?

Is it more powerful than the AMD?

Thanks

I have the Intel I3 380UM processor, and it should be somewhat faster than the AMD version and also have a better battery time, but the latter I can't confirm in reality,

Kind Regards
