ThinkPad Edge E540 with W7P upgraded to W10P

2020-01-03, 20:59 PM

Hi !

I have a ThinkPad Edge E540 with a 20C6003QMS mother board, 1 Tb HDD and 16 Gb SSD, 8 Gb RAM that worked with legit W7P having upgrade to W10P rights. I bought the laptop from the biggest computer store in Helsinki. in 2015

I decided to upgrade to W10P and used https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 to upgrade. Everything was smooth and the upgrade was properly performed, I was asked just if I want to maintain my data (the answer was Yes). The laptop now works under W10P.

Initially the boot was slow but after about 4 days I stopped the laptop using the SLEEP option. After that the boot performance considerably improved.

I want to know if the SSD is used as a cache (as it was used under W7P) and how can I check this. I searched the net, found info about this but no method worked for me.

If anybody can help I'd appreciate a lot.

Thank You.

Kind Regards

erol

Hi erolaivas!

Welcome to our forums community.

It is most likley used for caching but you can check it on your end by providing the serial number on this link: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/partslookup. You can check the information on the built-in parts of your machine. Please refer to the sample photo below however, the compatible parts were only provided since we don't have the serial number.

Thank You very much.

I do not want to order a SSD, I want to check if the SSD already on my laptop is used as a cache on my laptop. Maybe it is not and just sits there not being used.

Is there any utility or command to check/verify if the SSD on my laptop is used as a cache ?

Kind regards

You may need the express cache software.

Some info in an oldish thread here:
