Thinkpad E14 (AMD) Gen2

2020-10-13, 9:18 AM

Hi there,

Does anybody have an issue with the realtek audio drivers 6.0.8975.1 on the Thinkpad E14 laptop?   When ever the ThinkVantage software downloads this drive the audio is muted.  I have to install the generic Windows driver to resolved.

Just want to check with other Thinkpad E14,15 users

Thanks in advance.

Hello cdmain,

Yes, I have the same problem on my ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 (AMD). I have found the same solution: downgrade the driver and use the one provided by Microsoft (v10.0.19041.264).

Best regards,

Alexandre

Hi, I have the same problem on my ThinkPad X13 AMD Gen1. Sometimes it would not play any sounds after every restart but I don't know what's causing it. How can I downgrade the driver like you suggested? Thanks in advance, Leni

Well I found a better solution.  At least it works for now.

I reset windows to factory install.

Now the same Realtek drivers are installed and no issues so far.

Lenienated, instructions to roll back driver:

Device manager > Sound, video and game controllers>     Right click on Realtek audio, then click properties, click driver and then roll back driver.   Sometimes its greyed out, then you cannot roll back.

I got frustrated and reset windows and now it is as it should be.

Thank for the responses to my post.
