Thinkpad E495 Wifi card

2019-12-31, 3:15 AM

I am considering purchasing a ThinkPad E495 (R5 3500u, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd) but I am unable to determine the model of wireless LAN card present in the system. Some threads seem to suggest that users are upgrading from the Realtek 8822BE to more reliable cards. This would then suggest that the Realtek card is the one found in the laptop. However, RTL8822BE appears to only support Bluetooth v4.1 and the E495 (with model number 20NE0002US) is advertised as having Bluetooth v5.0 capability. I would be very grateful if someone could clear up this discrepancy for me.

Hi !

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums.

According to the parts look up page from our support website, the machine type model(MTM)20NE0002US has an Intel 9260 11ac, 2x2 + BT5.0. Hence, i've used a different machine type model 20NE0007CA from PSREF to see if both devices have the same part number 01AX769 for Wireless LAN Adapters.

Regards,

Edited: added more details.

I have Realtek 8822BE Wireless LAN 802.11ac PCI-E INC on mine and not happy at all. It loses network quite often, especially when watching youtube, another laptop asus zenbook does not so I assume the wireless adapter is the issue.

Drivers update did not help neither any other set of tweaks found elsewhere.

I have the 20NE0001US variant and have the Intel 9260 adapter. No issues at all.

I have 20NE001GMX and it came with realtek. Then I changed the card due to latency issues. The replacement wifi cards are cheap. I wen't for AX200 which is like $20... so there is little point in worrying about the card. You can always change it if you ever need to.

This should have been warranty case I guess. Going to check soon as my patience is lost with all these internet stability issues caused by realtek card.
