Trackpoint getting more sluggish

2020-02-21, 5:57 AM

I have noticed over the last several months, my trackpoint has been getting more and more awkward to use and maneuver the cursor. I tried reinstalling the driver, but that didn't help.  I am wondering what I can do--is it because of a stiffening of the red piece itself? Would buying a new one fix this? Or is there anything more I can do?

You can also replace the TrackPoint by ordering them from technical support. They'll ship you the right ones.

Alternatively, you can also:

  1. Type 'Mouse Settings' in the start menu or Cortana search bar.
  2. Click 'Additional Mouse Options'.
  3. Click 'ThinkPad' tab.
  4. Adjust any settings to tweak the TrackPoint to your preference.

Is this what you mean by "additional mouse settings"? https://imgur.com/a/tCYJeyf

In the "advanced settings" button there, the only thing I saw relating to the trackpoint was a speed setting. All the other tabs that would show up dealt with touchpad, at least from what I could tell.

If the trackpoint red cap is touching the base of PC,  it is hard to move the cursor. In that case, what you can do is:

- Insert papers in the hole of cap for increasing the position height

or

- Replace with a new cap
