Windows 7 needs too long to boot up

2011-07-22, 11:57 AM

Hey,

when I'm starting my notebook (Think Pad Edge E520) everything goes well until I have to enter my password. Then it takes about 30 - 40 sec until my desktop is loaded. So, the time uo to the state where I have to enter the password is fine but what can be the fault for the situation after entering it?

Can s.o. help me with that?

It shouldn't take more than a minute to the desktop wallpaper on any recent system...

Hope you guys are remembering to defrag.

@Bambergator: Can you try uninstalling the RapidBoot package from Programs and Features?

Click Start, Click Control Panel, Click Uninstall a program.

Find RapidBoot in the list, and click Uninstall.

To defrag, click Start, type dfrgui, and hit enter.
This will load the defragmenter. Choose C:, and click Defragment.
ONLY DO THIS IF YOU HAVE A MECHANICAL DRIVE.
Do not do this on an SSD; it is not necessary.

Boot into Safe Mode, and try deleting the files manually.
