2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD)

I have a Lenovo E550 with a HDD and i5 processor. It was bought about two years ago and it works fine until today. I found that the computer cannot start normally and "2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD)" just showed up after a few seconds. I did the lenovo diagnostic test but all test passed. I cannot find any solution of this problem online. please help.

It usually means the HDD is dying.  Do you have a backup?

Not if the disk is not working.

Re: 2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD)

So, how much is the price if I send it to Lenovo Canada for repairing (out of warranty)?

Re: 2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD)

You'd have to contact Lenovo Canada about that. In any case replacing a hard disk isn't very difficult or expensive. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes. A new hard disk will cost under $100 depending on capacity.

The problem is how to get your operating system, apps and data off the failing hard disk. Lenovo can't do that for you. A local computer shop might be able to do it, depending on how the drive is failing. It would have been much easier if you'd had a recent backup.
