Back-up Thinkpad Edge E520 which will not turn on.

My wife's Edge E520 has the "won't turn on problem". Before I return it to the service centre I would like to back-up the hard disk. What is the best way. I have an Edge 15.

Can I just move the Hard Drive across to the 15 and run back-up? Or would I be better to get an external disk case for a 2.5 SATA drive and put the disk in that and back it up from there. Any advice would be appreciated.

I am always wary after one service centre wiped my daughters disk for a keyboard change!

Either way will be okay. But using the external drive option will be the preferred option, as you wont have the driver reinstallation problem.
