Brightness problem in ThinkPad Edge E420 & E520 Series.

2012-12-31, 17:40 PM

Hello,

Windows 7, 64 bit.

Lenovo thinkpad edge e420.

1141a62.

For the last few weeks i have an brightness problems.

The F7+F8 keys does not working for me even all of the drivers are installed.

I googled this problem and i did find a lot of users with the same problem.

(a lot of them in Lenovo forum).

I didn't find any Lenovo's team comment!

It's not right that there is not a solution to this issue!

Lenovo, please raise the glove and find solution to the issue!

Update youre drivers and find a solution!

I'm not sure my next computer will be a Lenovo.
Excellent computer. Poor support.

Waiting for your answer.

Daniel Bassin.

I understand your frustration, have you checked to see if your BIOS is up-to-date?

There is a BIOS update that came out in Nov 2012, it includes a fix for the issue of brightness keys (F7 & F8).

Please let me know how this goes and if you have any questions.:smileyhappy:

Thank you for being a part of the Lenovo Family,

Catie

Bassindaniel,

Just to be sure, can you make sure you are running all of these driver versions:

BIOS: Version 1.24-1.12

Power Manager: Version 6.36

Hot Key Features: Version 3.81.0100

Video: Version 8.15.10.2509

You can also download the Update Retriever Software to check all driver updates for you.

Thank you for being a part of the Lenovo Family,

Catie

Are you able to manually adjust the screen brightness?

Another possibility is to download and save the driver updates to an external storage device or a seperate folder. Then uninstall the current drivers, reboot, then reinstall the updated drivers from the file you saved them in. Make sure you do one update at a time and reboot each time.
