Do I need to install Intel Rapid Storage Technology

Hi there,

I have a brand new Lenovo E530 to which I added mSata SDD (64GB) which serves as my OS drive.

Is there any point in installing ISRT for me? from what I understand ISRT is used for managing small SSD caches while my entire OS is installed on the SSD drive.

What about the BIOS update which appears at Lenovo's web site? can upgrading the bios can do anygood for me?

Thanks

Re: Do I need to install Intel Rapid Storage Technology

Hey there Slava,

To gain a little bit more clarity which are you exactly wanting to inquire about?

My understanding is that the Intel Smart Response Technology(ISRT) is caching feature of Intel Rapid Storage Technology(IRST).

Additionally, this will want to use the SSD as a caching device, rather than a bootable drive, so your current setup with OS on the 64GB SSD may not work in this instance. I found this article interesting that may be useful to you in deciding the path you would like to take. Ultimately, evaluate what you will be using the machine for, will these utilities help drive better results for those activities?

To know what changes would impact with you a BIOS Update, do you know what version BIOS currently have? Reviewing the summary of changes can give you an idea of what impact you will see with each version. I hope this helps Slava.
