Dolby Home Theater v4 for Windows 8?

2013-01-12, 15:20 PM

Hello there,

I've got an E420s, I had Windows 7 on it, and could use the Dolby Home Theater thing from the Speaker Properties > Dolby, it was simply on/off and 3 modes (Film/Music/Gaming), and I could notice a huge difference when turning it on and off when listening to Music.

After I upgraded to windows 8 it simply doesn't work any more.

All Audio/Conxant drivers are updated.

and when I tried to install Dolby v4 from the E420s drivers (but for win7, cuz theres no win8 version) and got an error something like:

"The current Dolby audio driver version is 7.2.8000.14 and the software application expects driver version 7.2.7000.7."

Suggestions?

e420sower,

Are you encountering any errors when booting up to the metro screen or desktop from a fresh boot?

Let's try uninstalling both the Conexant Driver, and Dolby Home Theatre v4. Then, download the Conexant Driver and install from the desktop. Once this is done, to you get any result from the Dolby Enhancer?

Download and install both Conexant and Dolby packages from the same page. If possible, with similar release dates.

That should do the trick.

But being a 420s owner... May I ask why do you want it? The conexant driver it's much worse than the Windows default. And Dolby doesn't work so great. You can achieve better sound using software Dolby filters. ;)

Good luck.

Which Dolby packages do you mean?

Where can I get software Dolby filters?

couldn't find anything for E420s

Today I clicked the small speakers Icon on the right bottom corner, I got this message

Hey there e420sowner!

The Dolby Home Theater v4 for Windows 8 has been a slight doozy of a problem, to gain a fix several forum members have tried a solution we worked out on this thread, and have seen success by taking this path.

Ensure that you have updated your driver with Conexant. The error that is occurring is to due to the Dolby Software not being as up to date as your Audio Driver. To solve this part of the problem, we installed the most up to date Dolby Home Theater v4 software we could find.

I hope this helps.

So I uninstalled all audio drivers and installed both of those you gave me, all installed normally, I can run the Dolby program, but it doesn't work, it doesn't do any changes to the sound.

P.S. Tried doing it again, this Conexant driver does come with that simply Dolby enhancer, and it also doesn't work.
