Re: E430 Dolby Advanced Audio Issue

2012-11-26, 18:15 PM

Solved for me.

Uninstalling the driver from:

Control Panel>Sound, video and game controllers>Conextant 20617 SmartAudio HD>Driver>Uninstall

...and running the Lenovo update after rebooting fixed the issue as it has for many others. Seems like it's not solving the problem for everyone.

Re: E430 Dolby Advanced Audio Issue

I had the same issue with my E430 - delivered today. One of the first things I did was use Thinkvantage to update. Afterwards, got these error messages. I called Lenovo, and while on hold researched the issues and found this thread. The Lenovo tech rep got on the phone, and as expected, he said he had dealt with the issue before, but clearly he did not know how to correct it, without asking someone, looking it up, etc. When I said I had just found the answer on this site, and that unless he knew exactly what to do, I would follow this board's recommendations and call tech only if I hit a brick wall, he was more than willing to not give any advice!

End result is I think it worked. So far the error messages are gone.

PRP885,

Have you tried updating the Dolby Advanced Audio software itself? I've seen success with ensuring that all the updates to the software is current as possible, so that the software will expect the most current version of the Audio Driver. It may best to take a look directly at the Dolby Site.

Additionally it has been recommended by several community members to look at this solution here, which directs to uninstall the Audio Driver and allow a default driver to install in place of it. Hopefully this directs you to a solution.

Hey there sandivale,

The error message message is indicating the software is expecting a version of the driver. The most recent version of this driver does not fall within this "range" that software is looking for, and unfortunately will not start because of this compatibility error if they do not match. Typically people have been successful in doing one of two things:

1) Rollback the driver to the version it is expecting. You will need to locate this specific driver to accomplish this goal.

2) Make sure your Dolby Advanced Audio v2 is up to date to the most current version. You may to do this by checking on the Dolby website to see what version they list as current.

I hope this helps sandivale.

Re: E530 Dolby Advanced Audio Issue

2013-01-10, 16:32 PM

Today, I also had the same audio issue after updating the software through the Lenovo updater. The issues were:

  • Error message that the Dolby audio driver version and the audio controller driver were incompatible
  • Windows Media Player did not play anymore, but came with an error message
  • In general, no sound

So, in order to solve the issue, I followed the advice found in the forum here and uninstalled the Conexant audio controller (I also marked the “delete driver” option!). After uninstallation, a restart is required. Then, after the restart, Windows automatically installed a suitable driver for the Conexant controller. This did the trick for me, the sound is back and Windows Media Player plays the music again. No error messages. Problem solved: very good and many thanks!

Here is some additional information about my machine and system:

  • Error message: “The current Dolby audio driver version is 7.2.8000.13 and the software application expects driver version 7.2.7000.11. Please install a valid driver and software application combination.”
  • Computer: Lenovo E430 (product code 3254AA4)
  • Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit, English, SP1, build no. 7601, all updates made before doing the Lenovo update (note that the machine came originally with Linux, but I installed Windows and all Lenovo software since I have Windows 7 on all my computers)
  • Audio controller: Conexant 20671 SmartAudio HD
  • Conexant driver after update with Lenovo updater8.54.42.0 (as shown on the Conexant driver details)
  • Conexant driver after uninstalling the audio controller’s driver and automatic re-installation by Windows of the driver after restart: 8.54.32.50 (as shown on the Conexant driver details), dated 2012-02-20

So, it was actually not the problem that the driver was too old, it was too new!

Perhaps, this is going to help someone with a similar
problem.

B.R., Ulrich

Just got my e530 a week ago, run the updates and had the same issue. Luckily I changed my harddisk to ssd and install the windows from recovery disk and when it asked to update the driver I said no.

But I can't really believe that there isn't an update for this problem for 2 months.

Many thanks to everyone for sharing their answers to this problem.

Extra thanks to oledome (hope the spelling is correct- I'm almost out of printer ink). You made it much easier for me by putting down the actual places I had to go to to fix it.

Thanks again.

Re: E430 Dolby Advanced Audio Issue

2013-01-30, 1:52 AM

I have tried every suggestion on this topic, But I am still receiving the same problem.  No sound. When I go into the lenovo tools to check the devices it says the driver is disabled, though in device manager it is enabled and still doesn't work. Still getting the error that I need to update.
Has anyone found any other fixes other than uninstalling then re-runing updates or uninstalling and downloading an older version of dolby? I'm wondering if it is just my sound controller now.
Pretty frustrated after spending a couple hours going through all the different fixes proposed. :smileysad:
