E531 Charging Message

2015-10-28, 17:13 PM

When I mouseover the battery icon in the tray, I get a message:

"98% Available (plugged in, not charging).

Is this normal?

No, neither of these are solutions.

As for the second suggestion, I don't even have these settings.

Hi bob63,

Can you please tell me which OS are you using? And try to update the BIOS from the below given link and check for the issue.

Hi Naveen,

The BIOS is 1.17 and I'm using Windows 10, and cannot find a Windows 10 update for the bios. I already have another issue requiring a BIOS update with the FN key not staying locked on and asked about the BIOS a couple of months ago. Soon the free Windows 10 upgrade will be over so what's taking so long for Lenovo to come up with something?

Re: E531 Charging Message SOLVED

2015-12-19, 21:49 PM

I figured I'd take a few minutes and help out others who may be experiencing the same problem with their laptop.

There was actually nothing wrong with the charging circuit, as I imagine is probably the case with many of the posts here. This is the way it works by design:

If the charging message says your battery is charged to 95% or more, then the charging circuit will not come on at all.

If the charging message says your battery is less than 95%, then the charging circuit will come on and continue to charge until your battery is 100% charged.

Also, if you have Windows 10 installed and need to upgrade your BIOS, the BIOS download for Windows 8 works fine.

This helped me too
