Re: E540 Suspend/Resume failure

A few days ago, my E540 has started to suspend successfully. I don't know if any debian updates made the trick. Support for USB 3 must be disabled from BIOS though.

Re: E540 Suspend/Resume failure

@Amy_Lenovo

Hello again. Since we've been waiting patiently, but nothing happened, i've looked closer at Lenovo's support site for Ubuntu/Linux systems:

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd031426#2

ThinkpadUbuntuSupport.png

I noticed that many Thinkpad product lines promote their Ubuntu compatibility but don't mention any specific model number.

I argue that the operating system support is ment to hold for any model when there is no model number mentioned (Otherwise some rows make no sense). As such i believe that for the E540 product line all models are supposed to support Ubuntu 12.04.2 and only the "20C6..." model additionally supports RHEL 7.0.

Could this be correct?

Best regards,

Mahene

According to the page linked in the post above, there is no one model number for e440 which officially has linux support hence it is probably that all should be supported.  Since the e440 and the e540 share a bios, hopefully all we need to do is find someone with an e440 with this issue.

@fdbailes (post #2).  Do you still have your e440 and is it still malfunctionning when suspending/hibernating?

Re: E540 Suspend/Resume failure

@ardent No Smiley Happy

I contacted my local Lenovo dealer. They tried to update the bios independently (different machine, image downloaded by them) and confirmed the same problem. According to them, the image is broken.

They also said that the Windows tool works, but I haven't got Windows installed.

I'll just wait for the next release. 2.17 doesn't solve our problem, so no point to look for workaround

Re: E540 Suspend/Resume failure

@ardent
Just hoping and wait won't help here. We have to convince @Amy_Lenovo to open up an internal case for this bug so that Lenovo's Bios developers can start investigating. Otherwise they probably will never know this problem even exists.
