E570: Upgrading RAM and adding a SSD

[ Edited ]

Hi,

i have an E570 with a NVMe 256 GB drive only, and i want to add a 1 TB SSD as storage, since the 256 GB filled up more quickly than i expected. I also want to add 8 GB of RAM.

My questions:

1. Do i lose warranty if i open the Notebook to add parts?

2. Do i need the exact same RAM? If not, what kind of RAM is compatible? The way i understand it, is that there are 2 RAM slots of which one is used. So i'd like to add an other 8 GB DIMM.

3. Can i simply add any 2.5" SSD? What is the maximum height?

4. Will there be problems with Microsoft licences because of "meaningfull changes in the Hardware configuration"?

Sorry if those are stupid questions. I'm new to this.

Thanks and best regards,

Sitokagi

Edit: Typo and changed title to see, that the topic is for E570

My puestions:

>One can replace these parts as these are considered as CRUs (Customer Replaceable Unit), just make sure not to damage any parts while disassembly of the system.

2. Do i need the exact same RAM? If not, what kind of RAM is compatible? The way i understand it, is that there are 2 RAM slots of which one is used. So i'd like to add an other 8 GB DIMM.

>Its more likely to use the same type of RAM, or else one can upgrade upto 32GB max/ Type of RAM needs to use- PC4-19200 2400MHz DDR4, non-parity, dual-channel capable.

3. Can i simply add any 2.5" SSD? What is the maximum height?

>One can configure the system with secondary storage which requires SATA SSD 2.5" 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter), so basically any SSD will work.

4. Will there be problems with Microsoft licences because of "meaningfull changes in the Hardware configuration"?

> Actually no, as Windows licensed is preinjected in Systemboard of the system so its fine IMO.

Re: Upgrading RAM and adding a SSD

This was very helpful. I just purchased an E570 and I realized that the 4gb of Ram will probably be too small
