Have had this E520 for a few days and I'm disappointed overall. I can't duplicate it, but often when I am using the touchpad it will not respond to my finger movement. The 'solution' is to lift my finger and put it back down again. It's annoying.
I disabled the trackpoint and that did seem to help things, but I want the trackpoint so I can use the buttons. Does anyone know why this is happening? I've owned a thinkpad t41 for many years and have never experienced this behavior, nor has it occurred with any other laptop I've owned.
The two finger scroll doesn't work very consistently either.

You'll find that the touchpad is temporarily inoperable immediately after a keypress or TrackPoint action (includes TrackPoint buttons).
Go into UltraNav, turn down the PalmCheck.
For two finger scrolling, go into UltraNav and disable the Smart Check filtering settings. If this still doesn't cut it, disable two finger scrolling for UltraNav and use the TwoFingerScroll utillity found here: http://code.google.com/p/two-finger-scroll/
