Edge E540: Power Manager for Windows 8.1?

The Thinkpad Edge E540 currently comes with Windows 7 preinstalled, Windows 8 added as recovery disk. It is also suffering from an issue, where the fan will spin unnecessarily fast until going to standby and waking up again.

As a solution it was suggested to use the Power Manager utility [1]. However, the download page [2] lists the Power Manager only for Windows 7 (and indeed it won't install on Windows 8.1).

Does this mean that the Power Manager is not available for Windows 8? If  it isn't, will it be?

Re: Edge E540: Power Manager for Windows 8.1?

I am aware of that thread. I did however consider the lack of the power manager for Windows 8(.1) a sufficiently important issue for its own thread (giving it a better chance to be noticed by Lenovo representatives).
