I have the lenovo thinkpad edge 13 and I need to do a complete clean install to get it back to the factory settings. However everything I try to do says I need a disc. My laptop does not have a disc drive so obviously that is not possible. How do I accomplish this? This is really frustrating.

I guess you have two possibilities:
1. Use the recovery DVD's and an external DVD drive to reinstall your machine. If you don't have the DVD's, call Lenovo support.
2. There are loads of linux live images, that can be booted from a USB stick, i.e. Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download)

Is there an iso that i can download? I can buy it from microsoft, but I already own the software so I don't want to pay. This seems totally absurd that I was sold a computer that requires a disc drive in order to reinstall the software.

i think that is what you are talking about. The Win 7 can be installed from a usb pen drive.
