Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E525 Fan Replaceable

So, after 4 or 5 years the fan on my Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E525 (1200US model, if I recall correctly) is no longer spinning.

Before I order any replacement parts, though, I wanted to make sure that I can replace just the fan no matter what or if I would have to get the whole HSF assembly.

I'd rather not have to disassemble the laptop twice.

Re: Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E525 Fan Replaceable

Welcome to the forum!

After 4/5 years I would rather recommend you to replace the whole assembly instead of the fan only, it's also highly advisable to replace the thermal compound, cleaning the old one and re-applying a good thermal paste like Artic Silver 5/Artic Cooling MX2/Artic Cooling MX4.

To replace the fan you have to do a quite amount of disassembly, shouldn't be a problem if you follow the hardware maintenance manual (HMM), which can be downloaded from here: click me!
