Lenovo e540 High tempreture valies due to high load

Dear support,

I would like to report that my lenovo e540 is reaching really high tempreture values.

While playing games (HOTS) the laptop reaches around 80-85 C degrees.

Since i had upgraded to Windows 10 Pro I had two freezes on different evenings.
When the laptop reaches high tempretures, the ventilator kinda does not want to go "man" mode and cool up the machine.
I know that that the vent can do more I've heard it when I was updating bios(current v2.19).

On a stress test I managed to reach 95 C degrees! No freeze!

I opened the back cover, there is no dust accumulation on vent or grill. I am using only flat surfaces!.

Please advice how to procceed or is it normal.

Re: Lenovo e540 High tempreture valies due to high load

Hi rmiroslavov,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums!

You can limit the max CPU ratio via power option,

To do it via the Power Options, right click the battery icon (or electrical plug icon) in the lower left corner of the screen, then...

  1. Select a power plan and then click "Change plan settings"
  2. Click "Change Advanced Power Settings"
  3. Look for "Processor power management" and expand it
  4. Expand "Maximum processor state"

And also request you to update the power management from below given link.

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-edge-laptops/thinkpad-edge-e5...

You can now enter the percentage usage of the CPU while the laptop is plugged in.

Please let us know whether the above steps helped you.

Regards,

Naveen.v

Re: Lenovo e540 High tempreture valies due to high load

Hello and thank you for the answer.

I have the latest PM Driver 1.67.10.15

You are suggesting to criple my computer just because it is freezing, I won'tdo it!

Last night I got another freeze this time the tempreture was 75C which leads to the conclusion that the problem is not overheat.

This is a bad sign, because i do remember that Dell had the same problem and many people were suffering and Dell couldn't do anything to stop the freeze. They were able to stop it with Motherboard change, but they did only on few computers. Other workaraound was with underclocking the GPU.

But I hope that this is not the case Smiley Sad

Re: Lenovo e540 High tempreture valies due to high load

Did you have your E540 freeze when using previous OS ? You are running an unfinished beta OS (Yes, Windows 10 is still beta) so I think you should blame your OS.

You can still downgrade Windows and test again for high temp and freezes.

I had no problem before Windows 7 Pro.

I think that I can not agree with you that Windows 10 is Beta.

Yes, it is half baked OS with Microsoft issuing a new "service pack" every couple of days.
