i have a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 13 665D817 without an operation system and am having difficulties installing Windows 7 professional 64bit (msdnaa version). I actually have had the same Thinkpad before and managed to install Windows 7 withouth any problems.
After booting from usb-stick during installation no harddisk is found. Therefor i insert a second usb-stick with the drivers for AMD AHCI Controller Device Driver for Windows 7 and select the win7 64bit directory. A driver to install is offered but after installing it, it seems as if nothing has happened. No Disk is detected and i can not continue installing.
thx for help
(by the way, the spell check offered here does not recognize "Lenovo" - *lol*)

thanks again for the hint on using a optical drive - using a dvd with the same win7 image the installation was no problem at all. I did not even have to provide a driver for the sata controller or other devices (win7 sp1 x64).
Is this a Windows 7 bug or does it only occur on lenovos edge series?
Anyway maybe lenovo should add a small notice to notebooks sold without windows and containing an eSata/USB combo port about this problem...
