[SOLVED] ThinkPad E580 RTC test failed

Dear all,

When I run tests from the Lenovo Vantage, the RTC test fails. I see my system clock on the Windows toolbar jumping around a few times, ending at a completely wrong hour of the day.

Is there any way to diagnose the problem?

Thanks in advance!

System: E580

OS: Windows 10, fully up-to-date

Re: ThinkPad E580 RTC test failed

Check the time/date settings in the BIOS/SETUP and make sure that they match the time/date set in Windows.    If the BIOS date/time keeps changing, it could point to a weak CMOS/RTC battery, although normally a system that new would not have that issue already.

Re: ThinkPad E580 RTC test failed

Dear JDGillis,

Thank you for pointing me to this relation.

I configured my Windows installation to interpret the BIOS time as UTC, which is highly convenient for dual booting with Linux.

Reverting the setting to "local timezone" resulted in a successful RTC test.

Thanks!
