Hi i have the
with Battery 57wh model no : 42T4897
The Battery Monitor showing only 47.5wh overall capacity.
This seems to be the same problem like the edge13 series. For these devices there is a battery firmware update but not for my battery.
Again i know that batterys are getting worse after cycles but this seems to be bug because:
1) the battery is 2 weeks old
2) the battery shows in the energy manager as 47wh battery and not 57 battery. So the battery manager says "good" and no battery wastage.
Does Lenovo provide the upgrade also for my device and battery?

You don't have a problem with your battery. My T510 indicates the same with a 57wh.
Under average usage patterns your ThinkPad battery maintains approximately 70% of its power capacity for the first year of operation. Average usage is defined as the number of recharge cycles. A cycle is defined as each time the battery discharges a total of 85% or more and is recharged it counts as one cycle.

This is not correct. The battery must have its full capacity of 57wh....
How do you want to tell the people that they have a 57wh battery but it only uses 47wh of it? It is advertised with the battery and the long battery usage. So please think of it
read my links. You have a wrong battery firmware

The number you give is the battery design capacity. At least if you want to know the capacity of your battery, the number you must read is the battery full charge capacity. They completely different. After you have to consider the number of cycles your battery have. More you have cycles, more you loose capacity in your battery.
You still have to remember a battery is chemistry. 57wh is a theorical number They obtain this number in a lab where temperature and pressure are in optimal conditions. In your home, plugged in the computer, the temperature is quite different and the battery properties are slightly changing.
After your are free to believe your battery have a problem and chase a firmware who doesn't exist.

The number you give is the battery design capacity
> Yes and this is 47wh on MY battery and you can see it on battery information.
Whats so difficult to not understand here? The battery is giving these information to the system. And it must be 57 and not 47 otherwise it never can calculate the battery wastage correct.
Please dont reply anymore if you dont want to understand this issue

i really hope, you never need the lenovo support. I get crazy with my support lady. Do they know computers? I doubt it.
I am trying 1 week to explain this lady, why my battery is faulty. (47wh instead of 57wh) and she doesnt not understand it. i sent screen shots from the battery manager compared with other edge11 users.
("Please start PCDoctor and call back!")
never again lenovo.....

Problem is solved.
i must say sorry to vince69. he was quite correct with his posting.
The battery manager goes to special mode (i dont know on which reasons) this should save the battery.
Under Battery->Battery maintance->
there are 3 options. The middle option (auto optimization) does this.
i choosed the first one and now my battery reports 56.15wh as advertised. I know can charge it completly full.

I'm glad you could understand and solve your problem.
