System Update tool error

Hello.

I have a problem. When I try to open System Update tool I get this message from the application:

"System Update has detected a serious problem loading language files and can not continue. Please contact the Lenovo Support Center".

I uninstalled this tool and got the new version from support site for my model (3354-CCG) - systemupdate506-04-24-2014. I installed new version but the problem still exists.

How can I fix it? I found similar posts but the solution was to reinstall it. It didn't help.

My PC:

Thinkpad Edge 330 (model 3354-CCG)

Windows 8.1

Thanks.

Re: System Update tool error

Hello hemanth_lenovo!

Thank you for your answer.

I uninstalled system update tool and there was no folder like C:\Program Files\Lenovo\System Update. (and for Program Files(x86) folder the same)

After that I installed application from the link you sent. The problem still exists.

After installing I found that the application is situated in folder C:\Program Files(x86)\Lenovo\System Update.

Hi SergeyV,

Thank you for replying back!

Please make sure is the system is installed Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.5 with Service pack 1 or above is required for System Update to work correctly.

Note: After uninstallation or installation of the application you have to restart the system to apply the setting.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

Re: System Update tool error

Hello hemanth_lenovo!

I have to mention that system update tool worked ok on my pc before. I don't understand at what point it began to fail at start.

I tried to install .NET vesion using this article.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/net-framework-windows-8

During the installation I found that this .NET version have already been installed. The system just asked me to install additional features. So I installed these features.

Using this article I can say that on my PC .NET 3.5 SP1 is installed:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318785/en-us

After that I reinstalled system update tool. The problem still exists.

After every changing I restarted the system.

Re: System Update tool error

Hi SergeyV,

I am sorry to hear that the issue still persists in your system.

As we have done all the Troubleshooting steps, I think it might be issue with Windows. You have to check with reinstalling the OS.

Hope this helps.
