Hello and i hope anyone can advise me on the SSD upgrade on my E480. I have recently opened the cover to upgrade the Ram and since i also want to upgrade the SSD i am a little confused. It got a M.2 PCIe-3.0 x4 NVME 128GB SSD and it looks very small so like a mini version so i do not know how to make another SSD fit in there. There is also some medal thing. Do i have to remove this one in order to put a 2280mm SSD in it ?

Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.
ThinkPad E480 is capable of handling upto 2 drives (one M.2 SSD and one HDD)
Yes, you need to replace the current with different one of your choice and can use HMM guide to Removal steps of the M.2 solid-state drive, page 70.
Also video guide of how to Remove M.2 SSD drive may give you a better idea.
I hope the above information helped you.

If possible can you share me the snaps & are you referring to the same slot as shown in the video guide of my previous post. Yes, it is 2242 M.2 card like this one I believe.

Thanks for sharing the snaps now it makes clear to me. That metal V shaped thing is M2 2242 bracket Assembly which is required if you are adding 2242 M.2 card in your system. It needs to be removed before you can add larger M.2 2280 SSDs.

I hope this make things clearer to you.
