Re: ThinkPad E485/E585 - Firmware bug ACPI IVRS table

If both changes work for you, then go with the option you prefer :-) I am curious what in the system is affected when you switch to the SWIOTLB. But I have no time to dig deeper Smiley Sad

I had a couple of BSODs while surfing with a chrome based browser. a few days ago I force upgraded the Radeon drivers to the Adrenalin 2019 version. I hope this solves this issue. Check the Driver Package Version (not the Radeon Settings Version) in the Radeon Settings -> System -> Software Tab. Is it still 17.xx?

If you want to force upgrade the driver: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvC-1gYzTP0 (Text instructions below the video). Afterwards I needed to do this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/8p48ah/psa_fix_for_radeon_settings_version_and_driver/

I backuped the NVMe before testing and stumbled over the network issue :-\

Bios Version 1.48 does not fix the IVRS entries.

Re: ThinkPad E485/E585 - Firmware bug ACPI IVRS table

I am aware how to force upgrade the AMD driver as I always did this way. Nevertheless the Lenovo Drivers should be also fixed. They were updated in December 2018, but they still are the same drivers from April. But maybe others benefit from your tip. Smiley Happy

If the boot problem can be fixed on a kernel-side with the upcoming 4.20 I can live with that. What bothers me more is the non-working Suspend. There should be a solution from Lenovo side, because I dont like crashing systems.

I agree with you. The suspend problem which happens sometimes is even more disturbing.

Re: ThinkPad E485/E585 - Firmware bug ACPI IVRS table

It's annoying that the Bios is not working properly. I'm using bios v1.48 in my E485 and I have to add these kernel flags to load Ubuntu 18.04 properly:

ivrs_ioapic[32]=00:14.0 (for the screen or the GPU or both)

ivrs_ioapic[33]=00:00.1 (for the SD card reader)

Please, fix it. This will also be good for windows users.

The SD card reader is fixed with kernel version 4.19.13. I'm using the kernel for Ubuntu and i don't need that parameter for the SD card.
