Re: Thinkpad E430 failed to power on

Not to be a Harbinger of ill-tidings, but this sounds similar to the wide-spread problems Lenovo had with the 420 and 520 series. I owned an Edge 520, which was subsequently replaced by lenovo with my current E530, after shipping the e520 machine to the service center in Tenn. 5 separate times. Rumor has it that the 420 and 520 suffered from a design flaw in their Systems-Board (Mother-Board), causing them to do-away with the 20's series and re-designing the Systems-Board of the 430 and 530 Series. I certainly hope that yours is an isolated case, and furthermore that it is easily remedied. This reply is basically an FYI, and I send it with hopes that when your system is repaired it never recurs. Every time I shut off my E520, I never knew if it would power-on the following day......fruhlpmd.......

Re: Thinkpad E430 failed to power on

Hi piping_ae

Did you try to take out the battery and see if it would power on just using the AC plug?

Re: Thinkpad E430 failed to power on

Lenovo  Bad  Service

E520 No Power/ Motherboard problem as broadcast  on internet everywhere

Less than 3 years old and been in the local repair shop while they searched for a mobo.

None available . Internet search throws up constant referrals to this .

Phoned Lenovo on 21Aug 2014  on 08705 500 900  long  long wait

Steven/Stephen answered – stonewalled me from the start. He refused to acknowledge there was a problem  & as it was out of warranty, Lenovo couldn’t help he could get me off the line quick enough. This  must be a policy decision by Lenovo to refuse help as soon as it is  past warranty.

No attempt to give info or  in progressing any sort of help

Absolutely disgusting.  Retreived my E520 from the shop and  ready  for  parts sell off.– But who would want to use a Lenovo  of any  model/description after this sort of service. My local shop spreading the word…. Lenovo deserve to be bankrupt after reading  the online woes.

Meanwhile , dug out my trusty 10 year old  Toshiba- still going strong.
