Thinkpad E530 short battery life after Windows 8 upgrade

2012-12-15, 2:51 AM

After upgrading to windows 8, I've noticed that my E530 laptop battery life has decreased by alot. It used to be able to run for 2-3 hours while browsing the internet, but now, it only lasts approximately 1-2 hours. This may be because I have no power manager installed ( can't find the windows 8 version ). Anyone know how I can possibly fix this?

Hi, Hardy

I would agree that the lack of a power manager being installed is likely the root cause of your now-shorter battery life. I was able to locate this document that can assist you with finding the driver for Lenovo Power Manager. Select "Power management" from the first drop down menu and select "Windows 8" from the second.

Hope it helps,

Adam

As with any new OS. Manufactures will be working on tweaking their software and hardware to work better. To me Windows 8 has maybe less stuff like Aero to affect battery life. But it also has some things that probably work in the background that Windows 7 did not have. I cannot say much more then that, because other then doing a little beta testing on Windows 8. I really have not worked with the final product.
