I have a thinkpad e540, bios J9ET92WW 2.12 with a 1TB Hdd.
I want a additional ssd and boot from it.
Is this possible? Any clues wwith this?

I don't have one to try, but there is a slot for a WWAN card or a 2242 M.2 SSD that is easy to access. Remove the big cover and it is visible. If you lay the machine down with the memory slots and the HDD toward you, it is above the HDD, to the left of the CPU. The other thinkpads of that generation (T440, T540, W540) will all boot fine from the drive.

I believe they all have the slot. It is next to the CPU - under the big door. There is one slot that may contain a WWAN card or an M.2 SSD
