I actually meant "price gouging" not price guaging. Maybe this is a little harsh but I think it is important Lenovo understand how unreasonable I feel this is. 

 

I spoke with Lenovo parts billings about the price of the keyboard. I was told that there was strictly no price negotiation on parts. Which again is unreasonable and strange that this is a blanket rule on parts no matter what the circumstance. 

 

Even though out of warranty I think this could be considered as Lenovo's product fault so why not even compromise?

 

Anyway, unfortunately not a happy experience.Smiley Sad

I am sorry to know that but we don’t know how Lenovo policies works in your country. However, you can go for the best one where you have mentioned, you would be getting the part with lower price, were return is accepted. So I guess it would be good if you go for it.

Hi Naveen

 

bought the new keyword from eBay for $52 including next day delivery.

 

and... It worked! All the keys now work with the new keyword.

 

So it was a hardware fault after all. Kudos to you for providing what support you could.

 

It is interesting that we all naturally jump to a driver issue but now and again I guess it turns out to be hardware. This made the most sense in the end but trying the hardware solution first is not easy due to parts cost.
