Why is there only 1 year warranty on Edge laptops

The T series have a 3 year warranty, and are almost twice the price. Does that mean an E530 has only one third a lifespan compared to a T530?

I just had a quick look at the German sales site.  My Deutsch is pretty shaky, but the Edge machines seem to be available with various warranty durations - just like the "T" series.  That is also true on the US site.

 

Why do you think the Edge is only available with a 1-year warranty?

Doesn't EU have a statutory requirements that all computers have a compulsory 2 years warranty at the minimum?

Those edge machines have 3-year warranties available.  Hit the "customize" button.

I meant the basic international warranty that comes with these laptops. I'm aware that you can extend the warranty of any laptop for additional payment.

In a large part it has to do with pricing points or marketing if you like. The three year warranty isn't actually "free" by the T, W and X series which generally have it as standard warranty; the additional cost isn't so noticeable in the end price and, especially in the case of the T, they are the "bread & butter" systems which Lenovo sells intended for businesses.

No, this is unfortunately not the case, more a regrettable incorrect interpretation of European law as I explain in a little more detail here.

Not that it matters but Apple only offers 1 year on any of their Mac's. Plus only 90 days of phone support. So I give Lenovo a plus for offering more. You have to typically spend extra for more coverage on any laptop. As most any laptop considering its conditions of being portable and has a smaller chassis then a desktop typically has more issues.

In the EU I do believe they offer better forced standard warranties then the manufactures. But Apple got in trouble just recently for not correctly saying that on their product web site. I guess many manufactures don't want you to know that.
