I bought an E420 at the end of January, and it is at the service center having the motherboard replaced for the 2nd time. From what I read on this, and other forums, mine is not an isolated problem. It certainly appears that this computer may have an inherent design issue.
Does anyone know what Lenovo's policy is on a computer that continually breaks? At some point, it would seem like a replacement would make more financial sense to Lenovo than to continually repair my machine. Were I to guess though, they will operate on the rule of averages, and fix it until it's out of warranty, and then at first break it becomes a door stop.
There is no specific rules about no. of repairs before new replacement can be requested. But i guess if it breaks more than 3 times due to the same hardware fault, then you are in a good position to talk to the customer satisfaction officer about other remedies other than repeated repairs.
