Brand NEW r61 but nothing appears on the Screen HELP

2008-05-29, 18:51 PM
Just received my new thinkpad and I ...
1- installed the battery pack
2- Connected the power cord/ AC adapter
3- Turned on the power
And that's it...
No beeps and no screen at all, nothing appears on the screen, do I need to let the battery be fully charged??? any ways I called IBM costumer support they said the people I bought it from may have installed the memory up grade (2GB) incorrectly. I send them an e-mail and I guess I have to wait... OH I was bought from a IBM dealer out of EBAY...SARGE I hope some body can give me some hope...

Very Respectfully,

CPL. Abarca, welcome to the forum,

I would recommend removing the the memory upgrade and see what happens. Instructions on how to do this can be found on this site. Whatever happens you need to speak to the reseller who sold you the ThinkPad and get things sorted. Either you have bad memory, (which they should have tested), or you have a DOA. In either case they should sort this out for you.

Please let us know the outcome.

Andy

It is possible the memory is not seated correctly. You can check yourself. Get the manual here and remove the palmrest to access the memory. Try taking one of the sticks out and see if it will start.

Edit: It looks like Andy got you while I was busy with a customer. Let us know how it turns out.
